I'm not good at this "church thing." What do I do when I get there, and will someone be there to help me?
You're not the only one! We're still trying to figure this whole thing out, too! For real, though, when you arrive, all you have to do is go to the main doors and come on in! There will be someone there to help you along the way.
What do I need to wear?
....Whatever you're wearing right now! LOL! In all seriousness, we are a "come as you are" church. We aren't concerned about your clothing.
If that doesn't answer your question, and you want to know the overall unwritten dress code, here you go:
- jeans, t-shirt, and sneakers OR
- business casual OR
- suit and tie OR
- anywhere in between
How long does church last?
Easy! Let's break it down:
- Sunday morning worship (10:30am) lasts 1.5 hours.
- Sunday school (6:00pm) lasts 1 hour.
- Wednesday groups (7:00pm) last 1 hour.
What do I do if I have kids?
Good question! You will treat that situation as you would any other situation.. just show up! We have appropriate classes for every person (no matter how young)!
0-4 Year Old: Nursery
The nursery is a safe and clean environment for your child until adult service is over. When you check in your child, you will receive a restaurant style buzzer to notify you if there are any issues during service. To check out your child, for security purposes, you will be required to turn in your buzzer (This will verify that the child is yours.)!
5-12: Assembly Kids
You can learn more about our children's ministry by clicking HERE.
You want to keep your child with you?
That's okay, too! We have a "Mother's Room" located in the back of the sanctuary. If your child has any needs, you can slip in there and care for them in private. You're, also, welcome to step out into the lobby... It's your choice.
What time should I arrive?
For starters, our Sunday morning worship service starts at 10:30am ON THE DOT. If you're dropping your kids off at the nursery or Assembly Kids, you should show up about 10:10am to give yourself plenty of time to get them checked in! If you don't have children, anytime before 10:30am is good!
Do I have to give money to your church?
Absolutely... not! We consider tithing (or offering / "giving") an act of worship. We hope you never feel pressured into giving anything - ever - unless you WANT to. We just want you to come and experience The Assembly Church.
You talk a lot about "next steps" and being "connected." What does that mean and how do I do it?
"Next steps" or "getting connected" are just simple ways to say "I want to know more / do more."
It's a call to action. You want to take that next step (whatever that may mean to you). You may want to be baptized, have a question, find a group to get involved in, or volunteer to help with the Sunday morning experience- the possibilities are endless.
If you're ready to get more involved, or just want to see what all we have to offer, CLICK HERE. This will take you to the "next steps" section of our website.
Why do you call church service a "worship service?"
To keep this brief, we call our church service a worship service because we believe that's exactly what it is! We go to church (the building) to worship God.
Worship has many different shapes and sizes. The Bible says, "Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." That means we need to do all things for God... work, play, give, etc. To bring this to context, for our church service, we don't do it just to do it. We do it to bring honor to our Lord... We worship.
What does your Sunday morning worship service consist of?
I'll just run you through what happens from 10:25am - noon:
-We have a 5 minute countdown timer that will start.
-The band will open with a song.
-Someone will take the stage and talk about a few things.
-Next is the giving (financial) portion of the service.
-The band will play three more songs.
-Then, Pastor will take the stage for his message.
